PACK LIGHTLY
Oh dear packing God (or maybe packing devil?), we have all fallen into all your traps and packed way too many clothes for trips over the years. For week-long trips, we have packed for a whole month; for two-day trips, we have packed for a whole week; and for day trips, we have packed for two-day trips. We must stop this because we are only making it very difficult for ourselves and losing the freedom to be spontaneous, play more, and spend time on what is important on the trip; namely hanging out with friends and family – not carrying heavy loads, dealing with luggage logistics, and spending time carrying clothes you won't use on the trip.
Summer vacation is approaching, so let's talk a bit about packing and what we recommend you consider:
1. Make a packing list: Write down everything you think you'll need, then critically assess what's truly necessary. Base it on what you'll be doing during the summer.
2. Think multifunctional. Pack clothes that can serve multiple purposes. A versatile t-shirt or shorts that work both for the beach and a restaurant give you maximum freedom and minimum weight.
3. Wool is wonderful – even in the heat. It keeps you warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot. Bonus: Wool is self-cleaning and can be worn for several days without washing. So, you can easily get by with just one or two t-shirts on vacation.
4. Roll your clothes. Save space by rolling your clothes instead of folding them. This way, you can make the most of every inch of your bag.
5. Utilize your shoes: When not on your feet, shoes offer valuable storage space. Stuff socks, underwear, or small items inside to save room.
6. Accessorize. If you need daily variety, switch up your accessories. Mixing and matching jewelry, scarves, hats, or sunglasses with the same outfit can give you many different looks without taking up much space.
7. Embrace simplicity. Get comfortable with wearing the same shirt or pants daily – it’s cool to love your gear! Maybe bring on
BONUS. Turn off all notifications on your smartphone. Only hamsters check emails and social media when it's time to have fun ;)
PACK LIGHT STORIES FROM OTHERS
The summer of 2022, our buddies Espen Fadnes and Amber Forte started on what might be one of the coolest adventures we've heard of. For about five weeks they went hiking and flying (in wingsuits, of course) approx. 260 km from Sunndal to Voss – in the same outift.
