THE PROBLEM

The textile industry is responsible for about 10% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, and creates miserable conditions for people and the planet, all over the world.

the volume must be reduced

As you've probably heard, the mounds of garbage with our clothes are getting bigger and bigger.

· The World Bank states that the clothing industry stands for 8-10% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. That is more than airplanes and shipping put together.

· Overconsumption and impulsive buying characterizes our society, and is encouraged by things like collections, discounts, bad quality and "trends".

· According to Norway's National Institute for Consumer Research, every Norwegian throws away about 23 kilos of clothes every year, buys about one garment per week and every fifth garment is seldom or never worn.

· "All" clothing brands claim to be sustainable – but there is no such thing as sustainable clothing production. As long as the business model is to sell as many clothes as possible, other sustainable measures mean next to nothing.

· The fact is, there are no sustainable textiles (no matter what you have heard). The only thing that can make a true difference is if we all buy less clothing.
