Founder of Northern Playground, Jo, loves to test limits. In spring of 2019, he decided to wear one of our tank tops as much as he could without washing it. The tank top was the best product for the test because it can be used pretty much every day as a base layer, whether wearing a button down shirt or out in the woods. Jo wore the tank top while working out, partying, skiing and of course at the office. Now it's been used for over 200days without being washed.

We know what you're thinking: what about the smell?

Wool is self-cleaning, but Jo is a pretty sweaty guy. We were all sure that 200 day old "Jo sweat" could kill pretty much anything. Jo was especially pessimistic after a night out when all his clothes reeked of tobacco. He hung them out to air and figured that his experiment had come to an end. The jeans and shirt still smelled like tobacco the next day, but the tank top was as good as new. Sweet!

And no, there's not something completely wrong with Jo's nose. He did a blind test at the office, and our answers were unanimous: the tank top didn't smell like anything at all.

Wash less

So my point is: as long as your clothes aren't visibly dirty, you're not gaining anything from washing good quality wool products. Save your clothes and the environment by washing less!

3 good reasons to wash less:

1. Doing laundry is boring

2. Washing damages your clothes and shortens their life span

3. Washing uses a lot of electricity and water and often leads to unnecessary pollution to the ocean
